The health check for trade or service based businesses will initially focus on the following areas:

• Marketing – Looking at current and past promotional activity and your business within the local and wider market place
• Business direction and planning – A review of your plans for the next 12 months
• Service and product review – A review of the services and/or products that you offer and the respective value that they bring
• Stock control – A look at the control you have over the stock you buy, levels of stock holding and purchasing methods
• Training – A completed training needs analysis team by team. This can then be broken down into an individual training needs analysis for each of your team
• Reviews and appraisals – A look at the process in place for reviewing and developing your team
• IT support and services – A specific IT review for your business.
• Performance management – A look at the processes you have in place for managing performance, both good and bad
• Profit and loss – A review of your profit and loss for the previous 3 months
• Overhead review – A review of your cost control for the last 3 months
• Competitor analysis – A review of your local market place and the competitors within

Each health check, however, will be tailored to your business and will therefore include the areas that you want to focus on. There will still be no charge if there is a particular area of your business that you want to focus on that is not covered above.
